1. Frank Fumich, MD, of the Orthopaedic Institute of Ohio in Lima, performed the region’s first two-level cervical disc replacement using Centinel Spine’s prodisc C implants.
2. Tenon Medical’s SImmetry+ sacroiliac joint fusion system has been used in its initial clinical procedures. Ali Araghi, DO; Brian Fiani, DO; Kraig Kristof, MD, and Sunil Panchal, MD, are among the first physicians to use the system.
3. Stanley Hoang, MD, performed the world’s first awake spinal fusion using a dual approach. Dr. Hoang used a combination of lateral and posterior techniques. He was able to trim surgical time in half.
4. Spine surgeon Matthew Follett, MD, was the first in the U.S. to use a new anterior cervical discectomy device from Alphatec.
