Becker’s has reported on four physicians in 2024 who saw personal firsts in spine surgery.

1. John Shin, MD, an orthopedic spine surgeon, performed New Jersey’s first unilateral biportal endoscopic spine surgery at Jersey City Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health facility. 

2. Vincent Rossi, MD, completed his first case using Amplify Surgical’s dualLIF technology.

3. Ernest Braxton, MD, neurosurgeon at Vail (Colo.) Summit Orthopaedics and Neurosurgery, has completed the first awake spine surgery in Nepal.

4. Michael Gallizzi, MD, completed the first procedure using Globus Medical’s Victory lumbar plate system at Vail Valley Hospital Center in Vail, Colo.
