1. Washington Nationals pitcher Matt Cronin had surgery to repair a herniated disc, he said in an Aug. 2 Instagram post. Mr. Cronin thanked Thomas Tolli, MD, a spine surgeon in Saint Petersburg, Fla., in his post. The pitcher said he had a herniated disc at the C5-C6 level.
2. Robert Watkins, MD, operated on Oakland Athletics pitcher Drew Rucinski, the MLB said Aug. 8. Mr. Rucinski had a spinal decompression and L5 to S1 spinal fusion and will be out for the remainder of the season.
