Lawrence VogelLawrence Vogel, MD (Chicago Shriners Hospital for Children). Dr. Vogel is the medical director of the Spinal Cord Injury Program at Shriners Hospital for Children—Chicago. He has been the chief of pediatrics at the hospital since 1981 and assistant chief of staff in 2005. He also serves as a professor in the department of orthopedics at Rush Medical College in Chicago.


In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Vogel is engaged in extensive research on the long-term outcomes for pediatric spinal cord injury patients. He focuses on the psychological, educational, vocational, social and sexual adjustment. He is also president-elect of the American Spinal Injury Association and past president of the Chicago Pediatric Society. 


Dr. Vogel earned his medical degree at the University of Illinois and completed his residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital. His additional training includes a fellowship at Michael Reese Hospital/University of Chicago.
