J. Patrick Johnson, MD (Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles). Dr. Johnson is a neurosurgeon and director of the Neurosurgery Spine Fellowship program in the department of neurosurgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He previously served as chief of neurosurgery at Olive View-University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center and the lead neurosurgical spine surgeon at UCLA. He also served as director of the Cedars-Sinai Institute for Spinal Disorders where he established a combined neurosurgery and orthopedic fellowship program.


Throughout his career, Dr. Johnson has performed more than 6,000 surgical procedures including patients with degenerative spine conditions, traumatic spinal injuries, tumors, infections and spinal deformity. His research interests include computer guided surgical applications, minimally invasive spine surgery and disc replacement. He has also conducted trials and outcomes studies for biological stem cell repair of spinal cord injuries and was instrumental in establishing the basic science stem cell research and biomechanics laboratory at Cedars Sinai.


Dr. Johnson earned his medical degree from the Oregon Health Science University in Portland and completed his neurosurgical residency at UCLA. His additional training includes a spine surgery fellowship at the University of Tennessee and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London.
