Ziya GokaslanZiya Gokaslan, MD (Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore). Dr. Gokaslan is a professor of neurological surgery, orthopedic surgery and oncology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He is also director of the Neurosurgical Spine Center and vice-chairman of neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins. His practice focuses on spinal tumors, sacral neoplasms and spinal cord tumors.


During his career, Dr. Gokaslan developed multiple approaches for resecting pancoast tumors, spinal neoplasms and sacral tumors. He previously served as the neurosurgical spine oncology section director and deputy chairman of the department of neurosurgery at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He's presented more than 200 national and international lectures and authored around 250 peer-reviewed papers.


Dr. Gokaslan is a member of the Cervical Spine Research Society, North American Spine Society and Congress of Neurological Surgeons. He is on the editorial board for The Spine Journal, Journal of Neurosurgery and Journal of Spinal Disorders and Techniques.


Dr. Gokaslan earned his medical degree from the University of Istanbul and completed a fellowship in clinical spine surgery at the department of orthopedics and neurosurgery at New York University Medical Center.
