Watkins Jr PicRobert Watkins IV, MD (Watkins Spine, Marina Del Rey, Calif.). Dr. Watkins is a partner with Watkins Spine. He is also co-director of the Marina Spine Center and chairman of the surgery department at Marina Del Rey Hospital. He has treated several professional athletes during his career, including NFL quarterback Peyton Manning, and been on the forefront of research and innovation in the spine field.


Dr. Watkins' research includes computer-assisted surgery, spinal deformity treatment and disc replacement. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Watkins has lectured over the past decade for physicians, patient groups, athletic trainers and physical therapists. He also teaches spine surgery techniques and is a spine consultant to several Los Angeles sports teams.


Dr. Watkins earned his medical degree at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Los Angeles County/University of Southern California General Hospital. His additional training includes fellowships in spine surgery at The Queen's Medical Centre in England and a traveling spine fellowship in Europe focusing on disc replacement and scoliosis.
