Dr. Tally is a member of Scoliosis Research Society, North American Spine Society and Society of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgeon. “As more surgeons are trained in [the outpatient ambulatory surgery center] setting, we are going to see a higher volume of both cervical and lumbar procedures performed in the outpatient setting,” said Dr. Tally in a Becker’s Spine Review article. “A bigger opportunity in the outpatient setting are lumbar procedures. When surgical techniques can be streamlined enough to reduce anesthesia time, and instrumentation is developed that can reduce the number of steps in a procedure (like OLLIF), we will facilitate the move of spinal fusions to the outpatient setting.”
Dr. Tally earned his medical degree at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, N.C., and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He has also completed a combined orthopedic/neurosurgical spinal reconstruction fellowship at Pennsylvania Hospital/University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and A.I. Dupont Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, Del.
