Dr. McGowen specializes in spine surgery and scoliosis, and is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon. He sits on the North Carolina Medical Society’s board of directors, and previously served as the society’s president. In addition, Dr. McGowen is a member of the Scoliosis Research Society.
After graduating from Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn., Dr. McGowen stayed on at Yale for his residency. In 1992, he completed his fellowship in spine surgery at the University of Rochester School of Medicine in New York.
