Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Steven Garfin of UC San Diego Health

Steven Garfin, MD, is a spine surgeon and professor at UC San Diego Health.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Garfin has published more than 260 articles, authored 123 book chapters and edited nine books. The San Diego Magazine selected him as a Top Doctor multiple times.

 

Dr. Garfin is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Association, Cervical Spine Research Society, North American Spine Society and International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery.

 

After earning his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis, Dr. Garfin completed his residency at UC San Diego School of Medicine. Dr. Garfin underwent fellowship training at Philadelphia-based Pennsylvania Hospital.
