Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Stephen Ryu of Sutter Health

Stephen Ryu, MD, PhD, is a board-certified neurosurgeon at Sutter Health in Palo Alto, Calif.

Dr. Ryu is also a consulting professor of electrical engineering at Stanford (Calif.) University. His clinical interests include brain surgery, spine surgery, stereotactic radiosurgery for brain and spine lesions and peripheral nerve tumors.

Dr. Ryu received his medical degree from the UC San Diego School of Medicine and underwent spine neurosurgery fellowship training at Stanford University Medical Center. He is a certified instructor in advanced trauma life support and holds a doctorate in neuroscience from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge.
