Dr. Blumenthal, a spine surgeon at Plano-based Texas Back Institute, is the first and only surgeon in the U.S. to devote his practice to the research and application of artificial disc surgery.

“My goal as a spine surgeon is to get my patients back to life using the most advanced motion-preserving technologies,” he said. “This includes lumbar and cervical artificial discs as well as posterior dynamic stabilization and interspinous process distraction.”

He played a key role in bringing artificial disc replacements to the U.S. after its creation and use in Europe. He’s also a leader in spinal arthroplasty. Since 2009, he’s been consistently recognized by D Magazine.

Dr. Blumenthal received his medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, and he completed his residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Dallas.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
