Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Sanjay Dhall of UCSF Medical Center

Sanjay Dhall, MD, is a neurosurgeon at UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco. His clinical interests focus on complex spinal surgery for spinal trauma, degenerative disease, tumor and spinal deformity.

He is an associate professor of neurosurgery at UCSF, leads the UCSF Spinal Cord Injury Clinical Research Program and is the director of the spinal neurotrauma program at San Francisco General Hospital. Dr. Dhall has been a featured guest on CNN. He is a coauthor of the Guidelines for the Management of Acute Cervical Spine and Spinal Cord Injuries and the Guidelines for the Performance of Fusion Procedure for Degenerative Disease of the Lumbar Spine.

 

Dr. Dhall earned his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He went on to complete a neurosurgery residency at Atlanta-based Emory University School of Medicine and a complex spine fellowship at UCSF.
