Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Sanford Emery of WVU Medicine

Sanford E. Emery, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon at Morgantown-based West Virginia University School of Medicine.

Dr. Emery serves as a professor and orthopedics chair at WVU Medicine in Morgantown. He received his medical degree from Durham, N.C.-based Duke University School of Medicine. He underwent spine fellowship training at Cleveland-based Case Western Reserve University, where he also received an MBA.

He is a past president and director of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and served as a past president of the Cervical Spine Research Society. His research has been published extensively in several peer-reviewed scientific journals.
