Dr. Heary is also the founder and co-director of the Reynolds Family Spine Laboratory. He is the director of the neurosurgical intensive care units and a neurosurgery professor at the Newark-based New Jersey Medical School.
With special interests in spinal cord injuries, minimally invasive spinal surgery and spinal cord tumors, Dr. Heary participates on nine scientific editorial boards and has authored 85 peer-reviewed journal articles, 95 abstracts and 42 book chapters.
Dr. Heary is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons and Cervical Spine Research Society.
After earning his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Dr. Heary completed his residency at the New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Heary is also fellowship trained from the Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.
