Dr. Kim is a diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgeons, and serves on committees with the American Epilepsy Society, Epilepsy Foundation of America and American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
Dr. Kim has a professional interest in surgery of the spine, including cervical, thoracic, and lumbar complex surgery. He also helps lead Hoag’s pituitary tumor program and has pioneered a minimally invasive endoscopic approach to resection of pituitary tumors. Dr. Kim is widely published and has authored scientific articles and chapters in neurosurgical textbooks.
“In my residency training, one of my attending neurosurgeons told me to always ask myself, ‘How could I have done that better?’ This advice is significant and has stuck with me because it forces me to continually improve beyond the typical, overused maxim of ‘always do your best.’ I think it’s much more natural for surgeons to look back on their surgeries and ask how can they can do the next ones better. This way, we’re always striving to improve,” says Dr. Kim.
Dr. Kim earned his medical degree at St. Louis University School of Medicine and completed his residency at New York University Langone Medical Center.
