Dr. Chestnut is a professor in the neurological surgery and orthopedics and sports medicine departments at UW in Seattle. He specializes in surgery and critical care for traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, failed back surgery, adult spondylolisthesis and sports-related spine and brain injuries.
He received his medical degree from the UW School of Medicine. Dr. Chestnut completed his residency and underwent fellowship training at UC San Diego.
Dr. Chestnut is also an adjunct professor in the global health department in the UW School of Medicine and UW School of Public Health. His research interests include improving traumatic brain and spine injury care and brain injury and trauma care system outcomes in developing Latin American nations. Dr. Chestnut is also interested in early mobilization from acute spinal column injuries and targeted therapy in traumatic brain injury management.
He has published several articles in scientific journals. In his spare time, Dr. Chestnut enjoys skiing, hiking, mountain biking and rugby.
