Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Rakesh Patel of University of Michigan Health System

Rakesh Patel, MD, is an orthopedic surgery clinical assistant professor at the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor.

He specializes in adult spinal disorders, spinal fractures and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Patel’s clinical interests include cervical spine flexion deformity, kyphoplasty and minimally invasive surgery techniques.

 

Dr. Patel researches spine trauma biomechanics of internal fixation of the spine.

 

After earning his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine, Dr. Patel completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopaedic Institute in New York City. Dr. Patel completed his spine fellowship at University of Wisconsin in Madison.
