Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Martin Krag of UVM Medical Center

Martin H. Krag, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon at the University of Vermont Medical Center in South Burlington.

Dr. Krag serves as an orthopedics professor at UVM Larner College of Medicine in Burlington. He received his medical degree from New Haven, Conn.-based Yale School of Medicine and underwent spine biomechanics fellowship training at Yale New Haven Hospital. Dr. Krag also completed spine fellowship training at Downey, Calif.-based Ranchos Los Amigos Hospital.

Dr. Krag researches biomechanical issues concerning pedicle screw implantation and biomechanics of halo vest stabilization for the cervical spine. He also develops techniques to measure spinal loads in vivo and received several awards for his teaching.
