Spine Surgeon Leader to Know: Dr. Mark Dekutoski of The CORE Institute

Mark B. Dekutoski, MD, is a spine surgeon with The CORE Institute in Phoenix. He previously spent 20 years practicing at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., where he was a principle mentor to several training surgeons and chairman of the Mayo Clinic Medical School Orthopedic curriculum. Dr. Dekutoski has a professional interest in adult and pediatric minimally invasive spine deformity correction.

During his career, Dr. Dekutoski has served as the editor for Spine and on the editorial board of the Journal of Current Surgery. He also collaborates in SPINENET Research Group and is a member of several professional organizations. He has been chair of the Scoliosis Research Society and AOSpine North America Educational committees.

 

In addition to his clinical work, he has developed the posterior percutaneous instrumentation Longitude and pioneered percutaneous deformity, tumor and trauma techniques. He has made more than 300 presentations and lectures related to spine surgery and the medical field.

 

Dr. Dekutoski earned his medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency. His additional training includes a fellowship at the Twin Cities Scoliosis Spine Center at the University of Minnesota.
