Dr. Von Rueden earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and completed residencies in orthopedic surgery and pediatric orthopedic surgery at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago and Denver Children’s Hospital, respectively.
Dr. Von Rueden previously served as director of spinal trauma at the University Medical Center Brackenridge in Austin, Texas. He currently serves as a spinal consultant to the University of Texas and manages care for student athletes.
Dr. Von Rueden is the founder of Texas Scoliosis and Spine, which merged into Spine Austin in 2004.
For the past 20 years, Dr. Von Rueden has served on the editorial staff of the journal Spine.
