Dr. Siemionow is board-certified and his clinical interests include adult spinal deformity, anterior cervical discectomy and fusion, cervical myelopathy, complex cervical surgery, herniated cervical disc, kyphosis, scoliosis, spinal fractures, spinal stenosis, spinal tumors, spondylolisthesis and vertebral body resection.
“Being a good doctor who presents, publishes and innovates constitutes a solid foundation for any spine surgeon leader,” said Dr. Siemionow in a Becker’s Spine Review article. “But it is crucial for today’s leaders to have a thorough understanding of the mechanisms by which healthcare works, the anticipated changes to the healthcare landscape and how spine surgeons fit into the new model of healthcare delivery. The leader should use this knowledge to become politically active and represent his constituents and the spine surgery community.”
Dr. Siemionow earned his medical degree at Karol Marcinkowski University in Poland and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Cleveland Clinic, where he completed a neurosurgical spine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Spine Institute. Dr. Siemionow has also completed a fellowship in adult spine surgery at Rush University Medical Center as well as a pediatric spine fellowship at the Shriners Hospital for Children, both located in Chicago.
