Dr. Alzate focuses on minimally invasive spine surgery and complex and minimally invasive endoscopic cranial-base surgery.
He received his medical degree with honors from the Universidad Del Valle Medical School in Cali, Colombia, where he also completed his residency. Dr. Alzate underwent training in neurosurgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City.
Dr. Alzate has served at many Lake County, Ill. hospitals. He is the chairman of neurosurgery at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America Midwest, based in Zion, Ill. He has been published in several leading neurosurgery journals, authored neurosurgery textbook chapters and spoken at various clinical conferences in Colombia and the United States.
Dr. Alzate is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, American Association of Neurological Surgeons and North American Spine Society. He was recognized in Negocios Now‘s “2016 Who’s Who in Hispanic Chicago.” Dr. Alzate is fluent in English and Spanish.
