Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. John Demakas of Rockwood Neuroscience Institute

John Demakas, MD, is a board-certified neurosurgeon with Rockwood Neuroscience Institute in Spokane, Wash. A fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Dr. Demakas is also a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, North American Spine Society and Spokane County Medical Society among others.

Dr. Demakas specializes in motion preservation spine, gamma knife radiosurgery and brain tumors.

 

After earning his medical degree from Creighton University Medical School in Omaha, Neb., Dr. Demakas completed a general surgery internship at Creighton University Affiliated Hospitals in Omaha. He then completed a neurological surgery residency at Barrow Neurological Institute and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix.

 

Dr. Demakas also attended U.S. Navy Flight Officer School in Pensacola, Fla.
