Spine Surgeon Leader to Know: Dr. George Martin of Southwest NeuroSpine Institute

George Martin, MD, is board-certified in neurological surgery and fellowship-trained in spine surgery. He has a professional interest in treating patients with spinal stenosis, spinal arthritis, failed back or neck surgery, scoliosis, spine and brain tumors and degenerative disc disease. Recently, Dr. Martin’s practice — Southwest NeuroSpine Institute in El Paso — purchased the Renaissance robotic spine surgery system from Mazor.

“I am looking forward to incorporating the Renaissance system into my surgical practice,” Dr. Martin said in a press release. “Robotic spine surgery is the future of neurological surgery and will help us achieve the best outcomes for our patients.”

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Martin is a member of several professional organizations, including the Texas medical Association and American Medical Association. He is also a fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and has authored more than 10 publications on neurological and spine surgery.

Dr. Martin earned his medical degree at the University of Florida College of Medicine and completed his residency at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. His additional training includes a fellowship in reconstructive spine surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine.

Before founding Southwest NeuroSpine Institute, Dr. Martin was in private practice in Bradenton, Fla., and El Paso.
