Spine Surgeon Leader to Know: Dr. George Frey of Colorado Comprehensive Spine Institute

George A. Frey, MD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon and founder of the Colorado Comprehensive Spine Institute in Englewood. He has served as an associate clinical professor at the University of Colorado Health Sciences, where he served as chief of spinal surgery in 2005. He is also affiliated with Swedish Medical Center in Englewood.

Dr. Frey is board certified, and he focuses on the treatment of all complex spine problems affecting the cervical, thoracic and lumbar regions in adult and pediatric patients. His clinical interests include complex spinal reconstruction, scoliosis, cervical herniated discs, cervical spine disorders, degenerative spine, lumbar degenerative disc disease and spinal deformity.

Dr. Frey also has expertise in emerging motion-sparing technologies and techniques used during minimally invasive spine surgery. He also has an interest in developing medical devices and holds a number of patents in the United States.

Dr. Frey earned his medical degree at Georgetown University in Washington and completed his residency and an orthopedic spine surgery fellowship at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago.
