Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Daryll Dykes of Medical and Surgical Spine Consultants of Minnesota

Daryll C. Dykes, MD, JD, PhD, is the president and CEO of Medical and Surgical Spine Consultants of Minnesota in Stillwater, an independent practice. He also practices at Midwest Spine & Brain Institute in Edina, Minn. He is the managing director of DCD Creative Enterprises. He previously practiced at St. Paul, Minn.-based Twin Cities Spine Center.

Dr. Dykes focuses on treating pain related to disc degeneration, disc herniations, scoliosis, kyphosis, spondylolisthesis, spinal stenosis, spinal tumors, infections and spinal injuries. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Spinal Injury Association, North American Spine Society and Scoliosis Research Society. He has had academic appointments at the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis and Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, N.Y.

 

Dr. Dykes serves as chairman of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ Leadership Development Committee. He also previously served as a member of the board of trustees at Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation.

 

Dr. Dykes earned his medical degree at the State University of New York Health Science Center at Syracuse, where he also completed his PhD. He completed his residency at the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis and his spine surgery fellowship at Twin Cities Spine Center. Additionally, he completed his law degree at William Mitchell College of Law, Health Law & Policy in St. Paul, Minn.
