Dr. Capen has served on the faculty of University of Southern California in Los Angeles and Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center in Downey, Calif. He focuses on various aspects of spine surgery, including spine trauma and injuries to the spinal cord. His work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, including Journal of Spinal Disorders, American Journal of Orthopedics and Journal of American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
In 1984, Dr. Capen served as an official spine surgeon for the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. He is also an honorary member of the Peruvian Orthopedic Spine Society and a member of Eagle Condor Humanitarian Spine Surgery Group.
Dr. Capen earned his medical degree at Albany (N.Y.) Medical College and completed his residency at the University of California in San Francisco. He completed his fellowship in spinal cord injury at Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center in Downey, Calif.
