Dr. Yen specializes minimally invasive spine surgery, complex spine and spinal tumors.
Born and raised in Taiwan, he graduated from medical school and completed a neurosurgical residency in 2000, before becoming a clinical faculty member at Kaohsiung Medical University.
Arriving at the University of Virginia in 2007, Dr. Yen went on to become a clinical fellow in neuro-oncology and completed his second neurosurgical residency so he could become a member of the American Board of Neurological Surgeons.
He also completed a minimally invasive spine fellowship at University of South Florida in Gainesville in 2016.
Dr. Yen has co-authored more than 100 publications and presented at over 70 scientific meetings and lectures.
