Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Chaim Colen of McLaren Northern Michigan

Chaim Colen, MD, PhD, is a neurosurgeon at Petoskey-based McLaren Northern Michigan.

He received his medical degree from University of Puerto Rico Medical School and underwent fellowship training at Wayne State University in Detroit. Dr. Colen is the executive editor and founder of Colen Publishing.

 

Dr. Colen speaks Spanish, German, and Hebrew. Dr. Colen was recently featured in the news for an operation he performed on a Michigan man on New Year’s Day, performing a spinal decompression surgery on the paralyzed man and stabilizing him. The man had slipped and fell on ice, and the man’s dog kept him warm for several hours until he was discovered and given medical attention.
