Specializing in complex brain and spine surgery, Dr. Virella treats neck and back pain, spine fractures, complex brain tumors and peripheral nerve conditions among many other conditions.
Honored with the Most Compassionate Doctor Award in 2013-2014, Dr. Virella was also voted for the Patients’ Choice Award in the same year.
After receiving his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and surgeons in New York City, Dr. Virella completed a general surgery internship at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. He then did a fellowship in complex spine surgery at Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Dr. Virella also completed a neurological surgery residency and a fellowship in complex and minimally spine surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles.
