Dr. Rinella is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He specializes in adult and pediatric scoliosis and kyphosis, cervical disc replacement, revision procedures of the spine and minimally invasive procedures. He has published articles on numerous topics, including adult and pediatric scoliosis.

“Most healthcare decisions still take place in the medical doctor’s office, especially in an expanded preventative care model,” said Dr. Rinella in a Becker’s Spine Review article. “We have to keep doctors in the discussion. Doctors are by definition a heterogeneous group, and we do not have adequate representation. We need to remember that the pharmaceutical, hospital and insurance lobbies are well represented, but only the doctors are making the true healthcare decisions on a daily basis at the patient level.”

Dr. Rinella earned his medical degree at the Chicago-based University of Illinois College of Medicine. He completed his residency at Evanston, Ill.-based Northwestern University, and he completed a fellowship in adult and pediatric spinal surgery at Washington University in St. Louis.
