Spine Surgeon Leader to Know: Dr. Allen Kent Sills of at Vanderbilt University Medical Center

Allen Kent Sills Jr., MD, is an associate professor in the department of neurological surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Franklin, Tenn., and director of the neurosurgery community practice. He also serves as the consulting team neurosurgeon for the Memphis Grizzlies and the Mississippi State University athletic teams.

He previously served as director of the Methodist University Hospital Neuroscience Institute in Memphis, Tenn., and was the founder and executive director of Memphis Regional Brain Tumor Center. He has also published several articles in professional journals, such as the Journal of Neurosurgery and Journal of Spinal Disorders.

 

Dr. Sills is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Society of Neuro-Oncology and the Southern Neurosurgical Society. He is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and his clinical interests include back injuries, brain cancer, cerebrovascular disorders, stereotactic radiosurgery, head and neck disorder and lumbar spinal stenosis.

 

Dr. Sills earned his medical degree at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, where he also completed his residency in neurological surgery. He has also completed a neuro-oncology fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
