Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Alexandre Rasouli of Beverly Hills Spine Surgery

Alexandre Rasouli, MD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon who dedicates his research to curing paralysis.

He previously worked at the Beckman Laser Institute, Reeve-Irvine Center for Spinal Cord Injury, the Miami Project and the Cedars-Sinai Tissue Engineering Laboratory. He now practices at Beverly Hills Spine Surgery.

 

Dr. Rasouli specializes in cervical, thoracic and lumbar disorders of the spine, such as degenerative disorders, spinal trauma, adult and pediatric deformity, spinal oncology and minimally invasive surgery.

 

He discovered a new method of regenerating neurons damaged by spinal cord injury using peripheral nerve transplantation in 2007. Dr. Rasouli also first explained the genetic response of spinal cord tissue to traumatic injury.

 

Dr. Rasouli received his medical degree from the University of California, Irvine. While there, he researched how to reshape biological tissue using lasers. He also finished a residency in orthopedic surgery at the same university and served as chief resident his last year.
