Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Alan Villavicencio of Boulder Neurological & Spine Associates

Alan Villavicencio, MD, is a fellowship trained, board-certified neurosurgeon at Colorado-based Boulder Neurosurgical & Spine Associates.

Dr. Villavicencio specializes in complex spinal reconstruction surgery and minimally invasive surgery performing around 500 cases a year. He also treats the brain.

 

He began his career after graduating from Harvard Medical School. He completed a residency in neurosurgery at the Duke University Medical Center. He then had an orthopedic spine surgery fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

 

In addition to his practice, he is the director of research and development at the clinic.

 

Dr. Villavicencio is also the founder and chairman of the Justin Parker Neurological Institute’s annual symposium.

 

Dr. Villavicencio is a member of several professional societies including the North American Spine Society.

 

Outside of his career, Dr. Villavicencio runs a small organic farms that has 30 cattle, 75 chickens and five pigs.
