His practice focuses on both operative and non-operative spinal treatments, including minimally invasive procedures for complex spinal problems and cervical and lumbar disc replacement.
Dr. Sales also specializes in cervical lumbar decompression; anterior, lateral and posterior spinal fusion; degenerative and traumatic spine reconstruction; degenerative scoliosis; and failed back surgery syndrome.
He was rated by Premier Quality Advisor as having one of the lowest complication rates and shortest hospitalization stays among surgeons performing lumbar fusions in the Providence healthcare system.
Dr. Sales received his medical degree from Albany Medical College in New York. He completed both a surgery internship and an orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation residency at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland. He completed a fellowship in spine surgery at San Francisco Spine Institute.
Dr. Sales is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the American Medical Association, Oregon Medical Association, Oregon Association of Orthopaedists, American Spinal Injury Association and North American Spine Society.
