Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Stephen Hochschuler, of the Texas Back Institute

Stephen Hochschuler, MD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon at Plano-based Texas Back Institute.

He is cofounder and chairman of the Texas Back Institute, according to the center's website. He has more than 30 years of experience in spine surgery and specializes in lumbar spinal issues.

Dr. Hochsculer received his medical degree from and performed his residency at Boston-based Harvard Medical School. He was a captain and major in the U.S. Air Force and then completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Dallas-based University of Texas Southwestern Medical School.

His achievements include being president and founding member of the Spine Arthroplasty Society and founder of the Spine Division at the Veterans Administration.
