Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Chanland Roonprapunt of Mount Sinai

Chanland Roonprapunt, MD, PhD, is a neurosurgeon and spine surgeon at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.

He's a board-certified neurosurgeon, and his special interests include spinal conditions and syringomyelia, according to Mount Sinai's website. His research focuses on the spine, and he is working with the department of orthopedics on methods to improve the placement of spinal instrumentation while correcting deformities.

Dr. Roonprapunt did neurosurgical training at Montefiore Medical Center and Mount Sinai West, both in New York City. He then did an orthopedic spine fellowship at the Beth Israel Spine Institute of New York. He received his medical degree from NYU School of Medicine.

He's been recognized by the American Registry with the Patient's Choice Award and Compassionate Doctor Award from 2010 through 2013. He's also been named a Top Doctor of New York in Neurological Surgery by Castle and Connolly.
