Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. John Berry-Candelario of UMassMemorial

John Berry-Candelario, MD, is director of spine and spine oncology at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester and medical director of the hospital's spine center.

Dr. Berry-Candelario is also assistant professor in the department of neurosurgery at UMass Medical School in Worcester.

He graduated from Harvard Medical School in Boston.

Following medical school, Dr. Berry-Candelario completed his neurosurgery residency at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C.

Dr. Berry-Candelario also completed a fellowship in neurosurgical/spinal oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.

His professional memberships include the North American Spine Society, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
