Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Michael Wang of U of Miami Health

Michael Y. Wang, MD, is a board-certified neurosurgeon at University of Miami Health.

Dr. Wang is the chief of neurosurgery at the University of Miami Hospital. He serves as a neurological surgery and rehabilitation medicine professor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from Palo Alto, Calif.-based Stanford University School of Medicine and completed his neurological surgery residency at Los Angeles-based University of Southern California Medical Center. He underwent spine surgery fellowship training at University of Miami and Miami-based Jackson Memorial Hospital.

He Dr. Wang serves the editorial review boards of Neurosurgery, The Journal of Spinal Disorders & Techniques and Journal of Neurosurgery: Spine, among other scientific journals. Dr. Wang’s research and clinical interests include minimally invasive spinal surgery, intradural spinal surgery, spinal deformity, clinical outcomes and trials, and spinal cord injury. He has edited five medical textbooks and authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications.
