Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Anant Kumar of Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center

Anant Kumar, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon at Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center in Denver.

Dr. Kumar specializes in adult degenerative cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine surgery, pediatric spine surgery, scoliosis and complex spinal deformity. He received his medical degree from Kurnool Medical College in India. Dr. Kumar completed an Association of Orthopedics fellowship at the Regional Hospital in Interlaken, Switzerland and a pediatric orthopedics fellowship at the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children in Springfield Mass. He also completed a spine surgery fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and an orthopedic trauma surgery fellowship at the Campbell Clinic/University of Tennessee in Memphis.

Dr. Kumar is a member of the Scoliosis Research Society and the Colorado Medical Society, among other professional organizations. His research has been published in several scientific journals.

In his spare time, Dr. Kumar enjoys travel, tennis and music. He speaks Swahili, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Punjabi.
