Jonathan Carmouche, MD, is a board certified orthopedic surgeon at Roanoke, Va.-based Carilion Clinic.
Dr. Carmouche serves as the section chief of orthopedic spine in the orthopedic surgery department at Carilion Clinic. He is an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery and the assistant director of graduate and undergraduate orthopedic medical education at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. Dr. Carmouche is also an associate clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville.
Dr. Carmouche specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery including spine fusions, decompressions and revisions. He also focuses on cervical spine reconstructions and complicated pediatric and adult scoliosis and spine deformity surgery. He received his medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in D.C. Dr. Carmouche completed two fellowships, the first in musculoskeletal research at New York-based Center for Musculoskeletal Research at the University of Rochester. He underwent a second fellowship in adult and pediatric scoliosis and spine surgery at the Minneapolis-based Twin Cities Spine Center.
He serves on the Scoliosis Research Society's education committee and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Carmouche helped to establish and currently directs the Carilion Clinic Orthopaedics-Musculoskeletal Education and Research Center, which organizes and facilitates interdisciplinary research for faculty and students at VTCSOM.
