Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Lawrence Vogel of Shriners Hospitals for Children – Chicago

Lawrence Vogel, MD, is a spine surgeon and director of the spinal cord injury program at Shriners Hospital for Children – Chicago.

In addition, Dr. Vogel serves as chief of pediatrics at the hospital. He is a pediatrics professor at Rush University School of Medicine in Chicago and an associate editor of Topics in Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation.

 

Dr. Vogel is the past president of the American Spinal Injury Association, past president of the American Paraplegia Society and past president of the Chicago Pediatric Society.

 

Specializing in pediatric spinal cord injuries, transition to adulthood and infectious disease, Dr. Vogel underwent fellowship training at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago and University of Chicago Medical Center.

 

After earning his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, Dr. Vogel completed his residency at Yale New Haven (Conn.) Hospital.
