Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Michael Leonard of Alamo Neurosurgical

Michael Leonard, MD, is a spine surgeon and executive director of the Alamo Neurosurgical Institute in San Antonio. He also serves as the chairman of the institute's governing board.

Dr. Leonard also serves as an assistant professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Previously, he served as the director of spine surgery at the Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio.

 

Board certified in neurosurgery, Dr. Leonard specializes in treating surgical disorders of the brain, spine and peripheral nerves.

 

Dr. Leonard is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, American Association of Neurosurgical Surgeons, Bexar County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association and American Board of Neurological Surgery.

 

After earning his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine in New York City, Dr. Leonard completed his residency at fellowship training at New York University School of Medicine and New York City-based Bellevue Hospital.
