Glenn Buttermann, MD, is a spine surgeon an avid researcher at Stillwater, Minn.-based Midwest Spine & Brain Institute.

Dr. Buttermann specializes in scoliosis, complex deformity evaluation and surgery and minimally invasive spine surgeries.


His career began after he earned his medical degree from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. He completed an internship at the University of Chicago and a residency at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. He then completed a spine fellowship at UC San Francisco and an orthopedic surgery fellowship at the University of Minnesota.


Dr. Buttermann is a clinical instructor of orthopedics at UC San Francisco, an assistant clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Minnesota and the medical co-director of the spine division of the Midwest Orthopaedic Research Foundation in Minneapolis.


Dr. Buttermann is an accomplished researcher with several published articles. He holds eight patents related to spine surgery.


He is a member of several professional organizations and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
