Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. James Farmer of Hospital for Special Surgery

James C. Farmer, MD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon with Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.

Dr. Farmer's clinical expertise involves care of patients with cervical, thoracic and lumbar degenerative disc disease, spondylolisthesis, skeletal dysplasia, spine regeneration and spinal deformity surgery in both adults and children.

 

Dr. Farmer earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., and completed his residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He also completed a fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.

 

Dr. Farmer previously served as staff orthopedic surgeon and chief of spine surgery at the Keesler Medical Center in Biloxi, Miss., one of the largest medical centers in the U.S. Air Force.
