Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Steven Mather of DuPage Medical Group

Steven Mather, MD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon practicing with Downers Grove, Ill.-based DuPage Medical Group. He has been practicing for 23 years. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, North American Spine Society, Scoliosis Research Society and Illinois State Medical Society. He is also a member of the SpineCraft Surgeon Advisory Board.

Dr. Mather's clinical interests include microsurgery and cervical, thoracic and lumbar surgery as well as minimally invasive surgery and revision surgery. His hospital affiliations include Adventist Hinsdale (Ill.) Hospital, Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove and Elmhurst (Ill.) Memorial Hospital.

 

"My approach is simple, placing myself in the position of the patient," Dr. Mather says, according to the DuPage Medical Group website. "I believe in taking pride in my work both in the office and operating room to get those good results."

 

Dr. Mather earned his medical degree at Chicago-based University of Illinois School of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic residency at Phoenix-based Maricopa County Hospital as well as a spine surgery fellowship at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
