Spine Surgeon Leader to Know: Dr. Craig Rabb of University of Oklahoma College of Medicine

Craig H. Rabb, MD, is director of the neurotrauma program at OU Medical Center and a professor in the department of neurosurgery at University of Oklahoma's college of medicine, both located in Oklahoma City. He serves on the ethics committee for the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. He has also previously served on the Professional Conduct and Ethics Committee of the North American Spine Society.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Rabb has served as chief of neurosurgery at Denver Health Medical Center; associate professor of neurosurgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora; director of the neurovascular surgery program at Colorado Neurological Institute in Englewood, Colo.; and chief of the division of cerebrovascular surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland.

 

Dr. Rabb has a professional interest in spinal cord injury and minimally invasive spinal surgery as well as traumatic brain injury, spine trauma and the history of neurosurgery. He has authored more than 50 publications and book chapters and also serves as an associate editor of The Spine Journal and associate section editor of Neurosurgery.

 

Dr. Rabb earned his medical degree from University of Oklahoma's college of medicine and completed a residency in neurological surgery at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He has also completed an American-Scandinavian Foundation fellowship at the University of Lund in Sweden at the Laboratory for Experimental Brain Research.
