Thomas Cha, MD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
He specialized in treating disorders of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, according to the hospital's website. His other clinical interests include spine fusion, disc excision and minimally invasive spine surgery.
Dr. Cha received his medical degree and an MBA from Drexel University in Philadelphia. He did an orthopedic surgery residency at the New York Orthopaedic Hospital in New York City and was chief resident in his last year. He continued his spine training at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
This year, Dr. Cha operated on a Lowell Sun reporter who shared her experience with spine surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a July 20 report.
"[Dr. Cha] put me at ease and I knew the great work he performed on my father-in-law, who underwent a much more extensive spinal surgery three years earlier," the reporter wrote.
