Dr. Härtl directs the Weill Cornell Medicine Center for Comprehensive Spine Care and serves as a neurosurgery professor and spinal surgery and neurotrauma director at the NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Brain and Spine Center. He is the official neurosurgeon of the New York Giants football team.
He received his medical degree from Ludwig-Maximillians University in Munich, Germany, and underwent neurocritical care fellowship training at Charite Hospital of the Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany. Dr. Härtl also completed complex spine surgery fellowship training at Barrow’s Neurological Institute in Phoenix.
Dr. Härtl has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed scientific articles and edited a recent book on minimally invasive spine surgery. He researches tissue-engineering techniques for degenerated spinal discs and collaborated with the Brain Trauma Foundation in New York to develop treatment guidelines for head injury.
